Hicksville woman arrested for stealing from former employer

The Fraud and Forgery Unit reports the arrest of a Hicksville woman on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 4:05 PM for an incident that occurred in Plainview.

According to detectives, an extensive investigation revealed that the Defendant Elizabeth Stern, 52, of 23 Arpad Street, was responsible for stealing from her former employer, Superior Air Condition & Heating Systems Inc. Detectives state that over an 18-month period, the defendant paid off her personal credit cards with checks that were stolen from the victim totaling approximately $301,958. During that same time period, she also cashed checks totaling approximately $38,000. The defendant was arrested at her residence without incident.

Defendant Stern is charged with Grand Larceny 2ndDegree, five (5) counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, five (5) counts of Identity Theft 1stDegree, five (5) counts of Unlawful Possession of Personal Identifying Information 3rd Degree and Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree. She will be arraigned on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at First District Court, Hempstead.
