Hicksville couple arraigned on charges of stealing more than 12 000 in covid relief funds

 Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced that a couple from Hicksville were arraigned yesterday for allegedly submitting fraudulent paperwork and obtaining more than $12,000 in rental assistance funds to which they were not entitled that were administered as part of a COVID relief program through the Town of Oyster Bay. 

Michael Arbassio, 65, and Eileen Dantini, 61, were arraigned before Judge Joseph Nocella on charges of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (a D felony) and six counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree (an E felony). The defendants pleaded not guilty and were released on their own recognizance. They are due back in court on May 23, 2023. If convicted of the top count, the defendants face up to 2 -1/3 to 7 years in prison.
