The NYC mayor gave several excuses for his refusal to return the taxpayers money of over $300,000 for his 2019 presidential bid. His reason, he is a high profile even though he was a non-entity in the race. Another excuse is campaigns have become violent and divided so he needed NYPD protection for his failed presidential campaign. Each campaign location in Nevada and Iowa had less than 10 people and none knew who he was. He stated the role of the NYPD is to protect the mayor and his family. However, the NYC Dept of Investigation is continuing with their role despite no updates has been released in cooperation with the Manhattan DA’s office. More details are pending due to the ongoing investigation including the refusal to cooperate by the mayor’s NYPD security team which will drag for a long time.
