Heavy fire in LIC

FDNY reported fire at 40-2 Vernon Blvd. This is an apartment fire in Long Island City. It happened around 9pm on Friday. EMS reported five people were taken to local hospitals. The 6 story apartment building had others evacuated to control the fire by 10:30pm.

The fire started in the fifth floor.
