Heavy fire from garage extended to a home in Bellerose

The FDNY closed off 241st Street near 88th Avenue reporting a heavy fire in Bellerose Manor. This is at the unit 88/59 near Jericho Turnpike. The fire marshal declared this is a second alarm. EMS is checking on injuries.

Local residents are advised to stay indoors due to heavy smoke in the area.

Firefighters are working on the scene.

The cause of fire is under investigation.

Update - Pets are missing and neighbors are advised to check for them.

Second update - There is no garage and the fire marshal says it was a house fire.
