Guns are bad in NY very bad

Both NYC Mayor and NY Mayor gave press statements today on gun violence.

Ok here we go. According to NYC Mayor, murders were down 34% from last year, down 4.8% over 2020. Down13% over 2010.

Overall crime is up by 38%. Rapes up by 21.5%. Robberies up by 33.1%. Transit crime up by 88.5%. Shooting victims up by 22.4%. The number one crime is thefts up by 204.8%

Illegal guns from out of state are the cause of crimes so if someone pushed someone to the train tracks, that's under gun violence.

This is the Governor's quote, “We are seeing a dramatic increase in the number of guns, finding their ways through our borders and into the hands of criminals.” Whoa criminals, that's a bad word to use in NYC.

On bail reforms, the Governor stated data is needed to decide the next step. More funding needed for criminal justice.

Biden will be coming to NYC on February 3 to discuss issues to combat gun violence. This is the next day after Officer Mora's funeral at St. Patrick's Cathedral. The date for the funeral moved to 2nd from 3rd. Coincidence!

As for the NYC Mayor, the first step is to add more hospital based violence intervention programs to public hospitals experiencing high rates of gun violence under the End Gun Violence program.
