From Washington to Long Island breaking the record

Washington Capitals hockey player Alex Ovechkin broke the record of the most goals now standing at 895. Whoa.

On Sunday night, Ovechkin beat the record that is held by the one and only legend, Wayne Gretzky who is at 894.

Ovechkin scored two goals on Friday while Washington played Chicago and won at 894. Then on Sunday, Washington played NY Islanders on Long Island where they lost but he scored one to get the 895. This was during the second period power play.

He also has another record.

Ovechkin has played all 20 of his NHL seasons with Washington, leading the team to it's only Stanley Cup win in 2018. He joined Gordie Howe as the only NHL players in history to rack up 20 goals in 20 straight seasons.

Impressive.
