Fresh Meadows home burglarized and got away with gold bricks and cash

Fresh Meadows - Police reported a burglary at a private residence on 77th Avenue between 164th 165th Streets on Wednesday, April 26 around 1pm. No one saw the incident and the home owner, a 65 year old came to his residence around 5:30pm to see the front door broken open. He immediately called the police. Investigators believe there are two suspects involved since the back window was pried open using a special tool which cannot be open with one person. A safe was taken from the location. The home owner reported to police that inside the safe contained gold bricks worth $80,000, $50,000 cash and two guns along with jewelry. Ongoing investigation. Reported 2pm.
