Former school bus and uber driver sentenced to 16 years in prison for raping 12 year old child

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Miguel Enrique Diaz, 49, of Bay Shore, was sentenced to 16 years in prison followed by 15 years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty in March to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, for repeatedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

“While this defendant’s sentence of 16 years in prison is substantial, it pales in comparison to the potential lifelong trauma that the victim will suffer due to the defendant’s crime,” said District Attorney Tierney. “We hope the tremendous strength this young survivor showed to coming forward was the first of many steps in her healing process, and that it encourages others who have experienced abuse to come forward knowing that they will be heard, believed, and protected.”

According to court documents and the defendant’s admissions during his guilty plea allocution, between December 2022 and October 2023, Enrique Diaz repeatedly raped a 12-year-old child in the backseat of his car and in his home. During that time, he had been working as an Uber driver as well as a school bus driver in the Bay Shore School District. In March 2024, the victim told her mother about the sexual abuse, and the mother contacted the police. On March 13, 2024, Enrique Diaz was arrested following an investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department’s Special Victims Section.

On March 17, 2026, Enrique Diaz pleaded guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a Class B violent felony, before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis.
