Floral Park village is divided into three mixed emotions

Nassau County side Floral Park is seeing changes especially in the vicinity of Jamaica Avenue and Jericho Turnpike to the LIRR.

One side supports the change including the new Babylon like tower with five stories replacing the location at the former Stella restaurant. Another group opposes now demanding to keep the area with less developments. There is a new group who want to make the area a choice of demographic to expand from Queens to meet the growing demand with changes, i.e. more hotels, motels, shelters, temples, supermarkets, etc.

Old timers say the neighborhood is not generating any money to sustain the community including local businesses as many have left to other states for good. Lots of buildings on the market have forced others to close to new comers to adapt the different products and services.

There is a public hearing scheduled on January 20 at 8:30pm for all to come and participate on the next stage of developmental plans.

The opposing group continue to collect signatures at this link,

while the new demographic is already buying up buildings.
