Floral Park man arrested after running out of the vehicle leading police chase

Alex Mitchell, 21 of Floral Park was arrested on Wednesday, September 27 around 3:30am after chase by police. Mitchell was allegedly speeding in his 2006 Honda Civic when police caught up to him on Terrace Avenue and Plainfield Avenue also in Floral Park. He stopped the vehicle after chase to Laurel Street and then took off on foot. Both officers grabbed Mitchell after chase and then resistance occurred. That caused two officers to suffer minor injuries. Mitchell was placed in cuffs. Both officers were taken to a local hospital. Mitchell was charged with speeding, assault, resisting arrest and unlawful fleeing from police. He also had marijuana inside his vehicle which he was charged with.
