First assignment for the NYC Mayor after meeting with the ICE

Today, the NYC Mayor met with the ICE Director and then a new executive order was signed to use Rikers Island as a temporary housing to detain migrants. ICE will have an office at Rikers Island for processing migrants.

From there, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will be authorized to transport migrants to the airport for deportation starting with those convicted of crimes according to the Homeland Security officials.

A protest is scheduled for this from the far left who demand Rikers Island to close.

The funding will be managed from the federal side as the entire operation is done by ICE and its affiliates.

NYC will not be involved except cooperation with the ICE.

The Governor's Office has not responded to this order.
