Fire investigation at a Freeport trailer home with one dead

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal trailer fire that occurred on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 11:23 p.m. in Freeport.

According to Detectives, Freeport police officers while on patrol observed a trailer fire at 30 Commercial Street. The fire was extinguished by the Freeport Fire Department. An unknown male was discovered inside the trailer and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing in coordination with the Nassau County Fire Marshall, Nassau County Police Department Arson/Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad.
