Fire in Richmond Hill has 40 people lost their homes

FDNY reported fire started in a commercial store at 1am inside 109-25 Jamaica Avenue and expanded in the residential apartments. The fire was 6th alarm involving over 200 firefighters. EMS reported of multiple injuries including firefighters. By 4am, the fire was brought under control. Red Cross worked to place the people in temporary shelters. The cause of fire is under investigation.
