Fire Island closed after a body found floating

This afternoon, the SCPD closed part of the Fire Island by Robert Moses State Park Field 2 reporting a dead body was found floating.

The call came in after park police notified the SCPD during routine patrol. The medical examiner transported the body to conduct an autopsy of a male.

Additional details were not disclosed due to the early stage of investigation and how it was found by the area.

The investigation continues.
