Fight resulted shooting involving teens in Suffolk County

The SCPD reported a dispute turned into a fight between two teens in Patchogue. Then one of them pulled out a gun and allegedly shot the other male as per SCPD. Police say the victim was a male, 17 and the perp under questioning is a 14 year old male teen. The incident was reported on Thursday around 4:30pm in the vicinity of Rider Avenue and Edwards Street in Suffolk County. Police further clarified the 14 year old male shot himself in the hand and was also transported to a local hospital. Both are in stable condition. The 14 year old has been charged with assault in the first degree and weapon possession.

A neighbor says this was a large gathering when the dispute broke out at a local area where the teens hang out.

The investigation continues.
