Fatal fire reported in Bellmore

Nassau County firefighters reported a major fire at a home on Chapman Avenue in Bellmore with one dead and multiple injuries. The fire started around 4:30am this morning and declared a three alarm that extended to three homes.

Also two police officers were treated on the scene after attempting to rescue residents.

EMS transported the injured to local hospitals.

Bellmore Avenue is closed for the emergency vehicles.

The fire was brought under control around 6am.

Firefighters are continue to work on the scene.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
