Fatal accident under investigation on the Long Island Expressway

An update on the early morning closure on the LIE. A fatal accident was reported. The victim of the crash Brian Nieves, 38, of Bayshore was driving a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee going westbound on the LIE near Exit 56 at approximately 3:15 a.m. when his Jeep hit the back of a 2012 Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
