Fatal accident involving a motorcyclist in Howard Beach

Police reported a motorcycle accident in Howard Beach involving one death. It happened around 1am on Belt Parkway by Cross Bay Blvd. Police reported a motorcyclist riding 2014 BMW allegedly speeding hit a parked NYPD Highway Patrol vehicle. The 41 year old male was taken to a local hospital and died. The patrol vehicle was in the left lane to assist a disabled vehicle with emergency lights visible when the incident happened. The patrol officer was also taken to hospital with injuries. Ongoing investigation.
