FDNY advising drivers to check coolant on regular basis

The FDNY are advising all drivers to check their coolants from water to anti-freeze on regular basis for the summer. There were higher reported incidents of overheated vehicles in New York which can be prevented by checking fluid levels. Also, advising to check for pipe connections. When a vehicle is shown with smokes, call 911. One of the incident was noted on Union Turnpike and 177 Street next to St John's University. Firefighters arrived on the scene and broke the windshield to open the hood. Then the smoke was brought under control by extinguisher. The owner arrived much later to surprise and had it towed. The repair costed plenty.
