FBI is looking for a Glen Oaks resident wanted for tax fraud

Glen Oaks - Sheikh Mahatab Miah, 53 of Glen Oaks is wanted by FBI for stolen identity refund scheme which is using stolen identities of friends and peers filing tax returns. Over $114,000 tax refunds were received by Miah while owning a deli on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica where checks were mailed. Miah allegedly cashed the tax refund checks into his own business account. The incident happened between September 2011 and March 2015 in Glen Oaks and Jamaica. Feds believe more illegal tax refunds has taken place. An arrest warrant has been issued against Miah on October 21, 2016 and feds has been trying to locate him in the Glen Oaks area. He has been charged with conspiracy to steal funds from government, identity theft and slew of other charges. Miah is a Bangladeshi national and a naturalized US citizen. Feds believe he is still in the area and drives a T&LC vehicle wearing sunglasses. He is described as 5'5", 140lbs and goes by the name, Nipu in the community. A $1,000 reward has been setup for any details leading to his arrest. pic by FBI. Reported 11pm.
