Eastern Queens is a go with affordable housing at Creedmoor

The NY Governor approved the plan to build 2,022 new homes inside the Creedmoor complex located in Bellerose. The original plan started over ten years ago from 3,000 units to 2,800 finally received the approval after here and there changes, input from the community and who should develop. 950 affordable rental units are included for veterans, supportive and seniors. There will be a space for open area, new community facilities with a public school with a child care center, and neighborhood retail space for the rest of 1,000 affordable and market-rate home ownership units.

It's a combo of rental and home ownership programs supported by NY-RUSH, the state’s $500 million capital fund to build new homes on state-owned property.

The next stage is architecture planning in cooperation with environmental groups which will take another five years. Then another two to five years to outline development.
