Dunno if its for real

NYC Mayor's Office reported that about 750,000 New Yorkers will be uplifted from poverty once the minimum wage is set at $15 making the city economically viable without shelters and welfare. On the other hand when asked about inflation, its a different matter. Yeah, OK. I did the math - $15 times 40 hours a week is $600 plus a month is $2,400 resulting $28,800 per year. For single person, that's still poverty after taxes and other deductions. For a couple, $57,600, its on the border line of poverty. With inflation, its back to square one. For 40% tax bracket, its 7,000 per year from the $28,800 resulting $21,000 giving $1,750 per month net income. With average rent for one bedroom range from $1,200 to $1,500 leaves with overtime or second job to cover transportation, food and utilities. Worst scenario, public assistance. Makes no sense.
