Drones picked up shark at Rockaway Beach

Around 1:30pm this afternoon, the NYPD reported of a shark sighting picked up from the drone patrol at the Rockaway Beach.

Beach 58th to Beach 81st was closed.

It was a lone shark and patrol was increased around the area waiting for the animal to go away.

Finally around 3pm, the shark went away and beaches opened for the public.

Meanwhile, good news for the Rockaway.

The Rockaway Rocket is coming back on July 20 and will run for a limited time between Long Island City, Greenpoint and Rockaway Beach for $10 a ride. This is the ferry as part of the NYC and will continue until August 11.

Each morning, there will be two departures and the same in the evening to return to Rockaway Beach. The entire trip takes around an hour to view the ocean and other scenes.
