Diwali to add to school holiday in NYC

The NYC Mayor announced starting 2023, Diwali will be made a school holiday in NYC.

A legislation introduced by State Senate Jenifer Rajkumar is in the process of getting passed statewide.

The holiday, Festival of Lights, is celebrated by Hindus worldwide. For this year, the date of celebration is Monday, October 24. The Mayor stated over 200,000 Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists in our city celebrate Diwali.
