DSNY wants to be the top powerful agency in NYC

Move over NYPD, the Commissioner of the Sanitation Dept appointed in April 2022 is making moves with the city to make the agency the most powerful in NYC.

A new proposal is being brought forth to fine homeowners, stores, restaurants and street vendors to issue tickets for garbage outside around the clock. The current law is one hour period at 8am and 6am. The fine is $50 and wants to increase to $100 or more depending on the size of garbage.

This means garbage must be cleaned up around the clock, placed in containers around the clock especially for restaurants and street vendors. The decision will be made by the NYC Council before the Mayor signs to make it a law.

After the NYC Mayor weighting on budget cuts on agencies to cover the costs of the migrant crisis, the sanitation department wants to be able to sustain with its own budget using taxpayers.

Today, a new pilot program was launched and it's called containerication pilot where garbage containers will be added on residential blocks so people won't litter and will need money from taxpayers.

This will start in Manhattan and then Brooklyn.

Please work hard to cover the cost of this pilot program.
