Cause of fire investigation underway in Queens Village

Queens Village - FDNY marshals are at the scene of 112-16 208th Street investigating the cause of fire. FDNY confirmed the fire was not suspicious. The latest report shows five people died and they are two boys aged 2 and 10, two girls aged 16 and 17 and another 20 year old female. They are being identified as 2-year-old Chase Lipford, 10-year-old Rayshawn Matthews, 16-year-old Jada Foxworth, 17-year-old Melody Edwards, and 20-year-old Destiny Dones. A 46 year old man, Maurice Matthews escaped on time and is in stable condition at NY Hospital Center for Queens. The next door home had also fire broke out but no one was home. There was no smoke detector in the house. The fire started around 2:30pm after neighbors saw fire in front of the home. FDNY marshals are investigating a vehicle parked inside the driveway of two homes that were burned. The one possibility is the vehicle fire caused to spread in-between homes. Neighbors also reported the explosion was from tires of the car but not the home. FDNY also reported the home was 97 year old and the fire spread fast through the wood fast. FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro stated, "We are just beginning our investigation. Our fire marshals will determine where the fire started, they'll determine how it started, they'll work with police detectives and we'll come to a conclusion.
