Brooklyn man sentenced in the wrong way crash that killed a woman in Albertson

Courtney Corbett, 29 of Brooklyn was sentenced to 4 to 8 years in jail for the car crash that killed his girlfriend, Demytra Gibbs, 27 and her pregnant child. The incident happened on Sunday, June 18 on LIE near Shelter Rock Road in Albertson. Police reported a theft at Americana Mall store in Manhasset and followed the vehicle after tip-off. Corbett was driving to avoid police when he drove the wrong way in his Hyndai Sonata. Corbett pleased guilty in November to lesser charges.
