Bronx man in custody after child died in his care

Police arrested Anthony Richardson who was babysitting Jaylynn Evans, 3 and another granddaughter, 4 years old in his Bronx apartment after Evans was dead during hospital drop off at the Cohen's Medical Center in Glen Oaks.

When the child was brought to the hospital, staff alerted the 105th Precinct.

Richardson stated to the police he found Evans unconscious around 5:15pm and failed to call 911 as well as passing hospitals in-between the Bronx and Queens. The city's medical examiner will determine the cause of death from autopsy. Richardson was charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17.
