Bellerose plagued with squatters

The latest squattor illegally residing at a Bellerose home is on 88th Road near 244 Street according to the NYC Housing Court.

According to the NYPD, a call came in from the landlord who is now accusing the current occupants at the home with illegal documents and allegedly transferred the deed.

The matter is now under review with the DA's Office.

Three locations in northeast Queens have reported an increase in property thefts with deed and title scams by alleged squatters residing in the premises. They are Bellerose, Glen Oaks and Queens Village.

The only law that was passed in NYC is to distinguish the difference between tenants and squatters which is anti-squatter law. Rest is the same procedure in the housing court for removal.

Local homeowners need to protect their properties by adding more features such as motion sensor lights, cameras, etc.
