Basement fire now heavy at a home in Valley Stream

Firefighters reported a basement fire at a home in Valley Stream. This is by Commonwealth Street between Benris Avenue and Fenworth Boulevard in Franklin Square.

EMS reported injuries.

The fire started around 3pm this afternoon.

Other town firefighters have joined the operation to bring the fire under control.

Local residents are advised to close their windows from smoke in the area.

Firefighters are working on the scene.
