Attorney working with Assigned counsel program charged with grand larceny

On June 23, 2026, New State Police arrested Donatello Marof Lazarati, 41 of Baldwinsville and charged him with Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, a class “D” felony.

An investigation revealed that Lazarati was working with the Assigned Counsel Program in Chenango County, Lazarati submitted duplicate billing to Chenango County for the same legal services and accepted payment.  As a result, Chenango County sustained a financial loss of approximately $4,700.

Lazarati was arrested was arrested in the town of Clay with the assistance of the Troop D Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET) and subsequently turned over to members of Troop C.
