Assaults at the Roosevelt Field Mall

Mall on lockdown.

Police were called to the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City reporting assaults which leads to slashing. This was a dispute between two groups that started with argument, then fight causing the mall to go into lockdown. Two people were hit with objects.

The main suspect, male, black armed with a metal object striked multiple people and then took off in a vehicle.

Police recovered the weapon at the scene.

Police chased the vehicle to the Nassau Queens border and the suspect is in custody.

EMS also reported multiple injuries from the stampede.

The update information from police stated there was no shooting at the mall.
