Assault investigation leads to arrest in the town of weedsport

On November 30, 2025, the New York State Police from SP Auburn arrested Shawn D. Woolfolk, 23, of Weedsport, following an assault that occurred at a residence on Van Buren Street in the town of Weedsport.

At approximately 10:25 a.m., 911 received a report of a domestic dispute with injuries. Troopers and Fire/EMS personnel responded and located Woolfolk outside the residence. He was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation determined that Woolfolk and a 19-year-old female were involved in an argument inside a single rented room within a multi-bedroom residence. During the dispute, Woolfolk struck the victim and then used a knife to inflict a laceration to the back of her leg. The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.A young child was present in the room at the time. The child was evaluated at the hospital and found to be unharmed. Child Protective Services was notified and assisted with ensuring the child’s safety.

Woolfolk was charged with:• Assault in the second degree (D felony)• Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (D felony)• Endangering the welfare of a child (A misdemeanor)

Woolfolk was taken to Cayuga County Jail for CAP arraignment.

The investigation is ongoing.
