Arrest of four suspects in East Garden City for grand larceny

The Public information Office reports the arrest of four individuals for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 6:14 p.m. in East Garden City.

Third Precinct Police Officers responded to an assignment for a Larceny in Progress (Shoplifting) at Macys, 630 Old Country Road.  The complainant, employed as a loss prevention officer, observed four defendants: Juan Gaviria Gomez, 23, of College Point, Miguel Vaamundes Barrios, 31, of the Bronx, Kevin Alvarez Alvarado of the Bronx and Williams Lucena Martinez, 22 of Long Island City, act in consort to take multiple pairs of shoes and sunglasses without making any attempt to pay. The four subjects were located by Police and placed under arrest.

Defendants Juan Gaviria Gomez and Miguel Vaamundes Barrios are charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree and will both be arraigned on Friday, July 21, 2023 at First District Court in Hempstead. Defendants Kevin Alvarez Alvarado and Williams Lucena Martinez are charged with Petit Larceny. Defendant Alvarado was released on an appearance ticket. Defendant Martinez was issued an appearance ticket and was released to Suffolk County Police Department Fugitive Squad for an active warrant for Petit Larceny.
