Arrest made on the Hewlett fatality involving a firefighter

The NCPD reported the arrest of a 21 year old male accused of a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian which resulted in a fatality in Hewlett. The incident was reported on December 18 around 10pm in the vicinity of Broadway and Everit Avenue.

The arrest was made on December 30 and the DA confirmed the charges on January 2, 2025.

The victim was a lifelong volunteer at the Hewlett Fire Department.

The investigation continues.
