Arrest made following physical altercation in Hornell

On March 11, 2025, at approximately 9:56 PM, New York State Police at SP North Hornell responded to the Econo Lodge, located at 7462 Seneca Road North, Room 137, Hornell, NY, for a report of a physical disturbance.

Upon arrival, Troopers encountered multiple individuals outside the building. The investigation revealed that the victim had been assaulted by a male suspect, later identified as Zachary D. Smith, age 25, of Hornell, NY, following a dispute regarding noise levels.

An investigation determined Smith forcibly entered the victim's room, physically assaulted the victim, and caused damage to the door frame and threshold. The victim sustained multiple injuries.
