Armed robbery in Westbury

Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Lindenhurst man for an incident that occurred on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 12:15 am in Westbury.

According to Detectives, William Mohan, 53, of 33 Bristol Street, entered a Seven Eleven store located 760 Old Country Road, Westbury. While inside, the defendant took merchandise from the store and concealed it in his clothing. The victim, an employee of the store, witnessed this act and approached subject Mohan and asked him to give the merchandise back. The subject did not comply, and when the victim stated that he was going to call 911 the subject began striking the victim in the head with his fist multiple times and threw the victim into a display rack, causing the victim to sustain substantial pain, swelling, and a laceration to his face. The victim was able to escape the subject as patrons entered the store. The defendant fled the store on foot and was followed by the patrons, who brought the subject back to the store as they awaited police arrival.

Third Precinct Officers, who were dispatched when the Seven Eleven patrons called 911 arrived and placed the subject into custody. While canvassing, officers were able to retrieve the merchandise the subject had taken and concealed, on the front lawn of a nearby residence

William Mohan is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 4thDegree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 07/05/2019
