Amityville man indicted for attempted murder

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Angelo Andrade, 49, of Amityville, was indicted for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, and related charges, for allegedly slashing a man across his neck inside the victim’s Amityville residence.

“These alleged acts of violence could have easily resulted in death,” said District Attorney Tierney. “We take all acts of violence seriously and will prosecute vigorously.”

According to the investigation, on or about September 21, 2025, Andrade allegedly went to the home of a relative in Amityville. During a conversation between the relative and Andrade, Andrade allegedly grabbed the relative from behind and slashed him across the neck with a knife, causing a significant laceration and bleeding.

Andrade then allegedly grabbed a second relative, who lived at the home, and held her captive at knifepoint while threatening harm.

Both the slashing victim and the female relative ultimately managed to escape Andrade’s alleged further attempts to harm them.  They fled from their own home and were able to call the police.

The slashing victim was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was treated, hospitalized, and had to receive a blood transfusion because he lost so much blood during the violent attack. Shortly after the police were notified, Andrade was arrested near the incident location.
