Always in memory for the fallen hero in Bellerose

Today, police officers gathered at the site on Jericho Turnpike and Cross Island Parkway across the gas station to honor the late ESU Officer Artie Lopez. Back in 2012, Lopez was in pursuit of a suspect when he was killed. Every year, officers come to the Bellerose site on October 23 as the remembrance day for him.

He would have been 42 years old this year.

Bellerose residents also joined the memorial event earlier today.
