All Petlands Discounts stores to close

According to NYS Dept of Labor, management of Petlands Discounts confirmed all stores including Queens and Long Island will be closed as of April 18.

The reason for closure is due to the death of the owner, Neil Padron from cancer. 367 people will be out of work. The company started with one store in Glen Oaks in 1965 and grew to over 100 during peak time in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

A memorial gathering at the Glen Oaks store is under discussion for all employees.
