After seven weeks jury to decide the fate of Daniel Penny

Daniel Penny, 26 year old former Marine from Long Island who is charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in the death of Jordan Neely, a 30 year old homeless man, is now in the hands of the jury for a verdict.

Back in May 2023, from the court statement, the entire scenario was disclosed in court with over 40 witnesses and other people who came forth to testify.

Today the jury started the deliberation consisting of seven women and five men. The verdict will be announced anytime soon.

The case has many commuters on public transportation divided on the outcome since many had similar experiences. The main topic of talk of the town is can a bystander take action as a vigilante to protect innocent people involving people with mental health.

Most locals know self defense is illegal in NYC and so is defending anyone from being attacked but leave to the law enforcement with an unpredictable timetable to show up to diffuse any given situation.

Subway crime is increasing on a daily basis but the Mayor and City Council members who never travels in public transportation denies that.

If convicted, Penny faces up to 15 years in prison on the manslaughter charge or up to four years on the criminally negligent homicide charge.
