2035 is the year set for NY to stop selling gas powered vehicles

Brand new gas powered vehicles that's the one the NYS is planning to end by the year 2035. You can still buy used gas powered vehicles and drive around.

This was announced by the Governor after California is moving the transition.

The Governor stated,

"New York is a national climate leader and an economic powerhouse, and we're using our strength to help spur innovation and implementation of zero-emission vehicles on a grand scale."

The first phase out will start in 2026 by 35% reduction of sales, then 68% sales by 2030 and then all out by 2035.

However, you can still buy gas powered vehicles from out of state brand new and still drive in NYS. A pollution control standard will be introduced for new vehicles from 2026 to 2034 for manufacturers.

During this November election, a vote will be included whether to invest for more electric vehicle charging stations. If passed with a majority of votes, then almost $5 billion will be alloted for investments. This is powered by gasoline for now to use electricity.
