1991 murder victim identified as NYC mom who went missing after daughters 1st birthday party

A woman has been recognized more than thirty years after her remains were discovered in New York City, officials announced on Monday.

On August 25, 1991, a collection of remains, bound at the ankles and covered by a wooden board, was uncovered in a grassy patch at the meeting point of two parkways in Queens, New York, as stated in a press release from District Attorney Melinda Katz's office. Four individuals, aged between 18 and 20 at that time, were prosecuted and found guilty for their involvement in the murder.

An investigation revealed that the four men encountered the victim sometime between July and August 1991, according to the news release, and transported the victim to the intersection. During the journey, the victim was restrained and forcibly removed from the vehicle. One individual exited the car and struck the victim on the head with a large flashlight, leading to the victim's demise, the news release indicated. The men left the location but returned two weeks later in an effort to hide the victim by placing a large wooden board over the remains.
