10 shoppers robbed in Long Island

The SCPD reported 10 people were robbed in Costco and Bed & Bath parking lots in Suffolk County. A couple pretending to be in need of help target victims by asking directions after placing items in the vehicle. The male distracts the victim by asking for help. Most victims told the police the man was asking for directions and then returned to the car only to find out items are all gone including personal stuffs.

Police reported the incidents first started on July 14 when the investigation started. All incidents occurred between 12:15pm to 4:25pm. Holbrook, Nesconset, East Northport, Commack and Melville reported the most incidents in the parking lots.

Police released one of the surveillance pictures to the public.
